OH Medical is currently seeking an Occupational Hygiene Technician based in Hinkley, Somerset.  The role is full time where the successful applicant will work 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.

The Technician will report to the occupational hygiene lead as part of the  delivery team. The team provides a complete Occupational Health and Medical service to all those working on the site.

Occupational hygiene services are provided to the project teams and to all contractor companies working at the site. The occupational hygiene services are delivered in accordance with the site's occupational hygiene strategy.

The main duties of the role include:

In support of  occupational hygiene team:

  • Perform occupational hygiene monitoring and surveys of personnel and site activities, for a range of chemical, physical and biological agents (eg; dust, respirable crystalline silica, noise, welding fumes, gases, organic vapours, noise, vibration, thermal conditions, etc)

  • Participate in specific occupational hygiene related investigations and studies, as required by the project and at the direction of the occupational hygiene lead.

  • Carry out regular workplace inspections / tours to assess occupational hygiene related aspects and to reinforce workplace health themes with the workforce

  • Assist with preparation and delivery of training and information materials on occupational hygiene related topics to the project and contractor companies

  • Contribute to the regular update and circulation of occupational hygiene performance reports to the project, Hinkley Health administration and occupational hygiene lead.

In support of the COSHH coordinator and COSHH management function

  • Review and process requests for on-boarding, transfer and removal of chemicals

  • Produce regular reports of chemicals on-site eg; maximum quantities

  • Ensure chemical database is maintained with up to date information

  • Support HPC chemist with site related chemical data and information

  • Support COSHH assessments

  • Carry out scheduled COSHH inspections of platforms and workplaces, including off site facilities eg; junction 24

  • warehouse.

  • Provide and distribute general information to raise awareness about COSHH

Essential Skills

  • Degree qualification in a Scienec, Technology, Engineering and Maths related subject 

  • Three years work experiance in industrial construction environment 

  • Good communication skills
