Occupational Health Technician
Location: St Helens, Merseyside (with travel to Ormskirk and occasional UK travel)
Salary: Up to £31,000 FTE (£12,400 pro rata) + Bonus & Excellent Benefits

OH Medical is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of the in-house Occupational Health team of a leading UK manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Health Technician looking to join a well-established organisation where employee wellbeing, health and safety, and continuous improvement are at the heart of the business.
Working as part of a supportive Occupational Health team, you'll play a key role in delivering health surveillance, fitness-for-work medicals and wellbeing initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites. This position offers flexibility, autonomy and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on workforce health.
The Role
As the Occupational Health Technician, you'll be responsible for delivering a wide range of occupational health screening services while supporting the Occupational Health Manager with the smooth running of the department.
This is a varied role combining clinical screening, administration, equipment management and health promotion.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering health surveillance programmes including Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision Screening, Skin Assessments and Night Worker Assessments
Carrying out fitness-for-work medicals including Driver and Hot Work medicals
Completing pre-employment medical assessments, including drug and alcohol testing
Managing your own appointment schedule across multiple sites
Supporting workplace wellbeing initiatives through health promotion campaigns, toolbox talks and demonstrations
Maintaining accurate electronic Occupational Health records and producing reports and statistics
Ordering clinical supplies and maintaining Occupational Health equipment
Ensuring screening equipment is calibrated, maintained and ready for use
Supporting continuous improvement of Occupational Health processes
Maintaining a clean, safe and compliant clinical environment
The role is based across two sites in St Helens and one site in Ormskirk, with occasional travel to other UK locations as required. A pool vehicle is provided for business travel.
About You
We're keen to hear from Occupational Health Technicians who enjoy working independently while being part of a collaborative in-house team.
You'll ideally have:
Previous Occupational Health Technician experience
Experience delivering health surveillance and/or fitness-for-work medicals
A full UK driving licence
Confidence travelling between sites, including occasional overnight stays
Strong IT skills and experience using electronic Occupational Health systems
Excellent organisational and communication skills
The ability to work autonomously while collaborating with Occupational Health, HR and Health & Safety teams
If you have transferable Occupational Health experience but require additional training in certain screening areas, full support and development can be provided.
Salary & Benefits
Salary up to £31,000 FTE (£12,400 pro rata)
Performance bonus of up to 10% (subject to company performance)
10 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)
Flexible 15-hour working week across Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
Employer pension contribution of up to 8%
