Environmental Health Officer

Up to £39.60p/h inside IR35 (DOE)
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Environmental Health Officer to lead on food safety, health and safety, and public health within a dynamic organisation.
This is a hands-on role focused on risk-based inspections, enforcement, and public protection across a range of settings, including food premises, events, housing, and commercial sites within a diverse and multicultural environment.
What the Environmental Health Officer will be doing:
· Conduct risk-based inspections, audits, and investigations related to food safety, health & safety, environmental health, and public health legislation.
· Identify environmental and health hazards, enforcing compliance through notices, legal reporting, and court appearances as necessary.
· Lead or support community health initiatives, environmental projects, and deliver guidance and training to local businesses and residents.
· Respond to environmental incidents and complaints, gather evidence using specialist equipment, and represent the organisation at public meetings and consultations.
What the Environmental Health Officerneeds:
· BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health (or equivalent) with EHRB registration and experience in food safety.
· Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (Food Law Code of Practice, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, public health laws).
· Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively, remain calm in challenging situations, and demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.
· Flexibility to work outside normal hours if needed, hold a full driving licence, and willingness to travel and conduct unaccompanied site visits.
