We’re delighted to be supporting an organisation in Derbyshire with the recruitment of an Occupational Health & Wellbeing GDPR Clinician — a unique and highly specialist role combining clinical expertise with data governance and confidentiality oversight.
If you’re confident navigating GDPR, clinical data standards, and the sensitive nature of police health records, this role offers a rare opportunity to make a real impact within a complex, high-security environment.
About the Role
In this position, you’ll provide expert clinical oversight to ensure all Occupational Health & Wellbeing practices meet UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 requirements, and high-level confidentiality standards.
You’ll oversee how sensitive health data is handled, ensuring that information is stored, processed, and shared legally, ethically, and securely — while supporting the operational needs of the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as the subject matter expert on GDPR and clinical data privacy within the OH & Wellbeing service
Ensuring all health records and reports are managed in line with UK GDPR, ICO guidance, police and NHS standards
Advising clinicians, managers, and HR on lawful and ethical data sharing
Reviewing and approving clinical protocols to ensure data minimisation and confidentiality
Supporting decisions around retention, archiving, and destruction of records
Upholding strict confidentiality while managing highly sensitive employee information
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Experience working within Occupational Health or a similar specialised clinical field
Strong working knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and medical confidentiality legislation
Clinical governance experience within a complex or high-security organisation
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and diplomacy skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
Confident with Microsoft 365, databases, and OH systems
Deep understanding of confidentiality and ethical practice in clinical settings
Analytical mindset, able to balance organisational needs with individual rights
Desirable:
Experience in safety-critical sectors
Formal training in Information Governance or GDPR
Experience handling SARs and communicating with the ICO
This is a standout role for an OH professional with strong governance experience who thrives on ensuring best practice and protecting the integrity of clinical data.
