OH Medical are recruiting for a Senior Occupational Health Advisor to join an award winning in house Occupational Health team near St Albans in a full time permanent position.
The Remit
As the Senior Occupational Health Advisor you will be providing OH clinics and act as the deputy to the Head of OH Services. You will oversee an undertake the health screening programme providing high quality professional advice, support and guidance to service users.
Alongside the Head of OH you will develop relevant performance standards, review policies and Standard Operating Procedures within the service to ensure the service is responsive to and meets the needs of it’s customers.
Your duties will include:
Risk assessment following a body fluid exposure, for blood borne viruses and taking appropriate action in accordance with the Dept of Health guidelines
Risk Assessments for employees presenting with perceived stress and take appropriate action.
Respond to requests for support / information on the working environment
Manage own case load max 4 cases per day
Write letters to GP/Specialists
Assist Occupational Health Advisors to undertake a wide range of clinical activities by ensuring appropriate training, updating and monitoring of relevant training programmes.
Delivery of Health Surveillance and Pre-employment/placement screening, advising on candidate’s fitness for work
Participate in the management of inoculation injuries
Refer to the Occupational Health Physician any cases deemed to be beyond the remit of the Nurse Advisor
Skill Requirements
NMC Registered Nurse Part 1 Essential Part 3 highly desirable
Qualified to degree/ Diploma level in Occupational Health Preferred
Experienced working in an Occupational Health Environment
Knowledge and experience of Employment Law as it relates to Occupational Health, Immunisation and venepuncture schedules and protocols, Health promotion, and Access to Medical Reports Act and Data Protection Act
Good communication skills written and verbal
Good IT skills e.g. Microsoft packages, Cohort
Ability to manage own workload, self-motivate and identify priorities

Up to £43,434 pa with the potential to progress to £51,799 pa on achieving designated skills and experience
