Job Title: Commercial Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Commercial Manager to lead our Commercial Team and drive the organisation’s commercial and marketing functions. You will oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and strategic updates to the Board and management team. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the Board of Directors, you will provide expert commercial guidance aligned with the company’s strategic goals.

This role involves identifying and securing new commercial opportunities, strengthening existing partnerships, and ensuring the team delivers against organisational objectives. You will also take the lead on performance management, supporting revenue growth and profitability, and collaborating with senior leadership on budgets and stakeholder communications.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership

  • Lead and inspire the Commercial Team to achieve revenue, client satisfaction, and growth targets.

  • Drive lead generation, set standard pricing structures, and negotiate client agreements, including discounts and special rates.

  • Manage Account Managers to ensure high-quality service across all accounts, resolving escalated complaints where needed.

  • Oversee the marketing function, ensuring successful execution of brand, digital, and content strategies.

  • Set ambitious yet achievable performance targets for the Commercial Team.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and lead on bids, tenders, and business case preparation.

  • Shape and deliver the company’s sales strategy in line with organisational objectives.

  • Monitor competitor activity and develop proactive strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

Strategic and Operational Alignment

  • Collaborate with the COO to ensure commercial initiatives align with budgets and operational capacity.

  • Work closely with Data Analysts to identify growth opportunities and develop plans to capitalise on them.

  • Contribute to board meetings with regular updates on commercial performance and stakeholder engagement.

  • Support the Senior Marketing Executive in communicating key business messages effectively to stakeholders.

Team Development and Management

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to ensure team members reach their full potential.

  • Lead by example, fostering a high-performance culture within the Commercial Team.

  • Monitor team performance, behaviours, and attendance, implementing improvements where necessary.

General

  • Undertake other duties to support the smooth running of the department and business as required.

Role Scope

  • Team Leadership: Full line management responsibility for the Commercial Team.

  • Key Contacts: COO, Board of Directors, Department Managers, clients, and external suppliers.

  • Specialist Knowledge: Strategic planning, contract negotiation, market research, client relationship management, and reporting.
