Occupational Health Advisor (OHA) – Band 6

We’re working in partnership with a large NHS Trust to recruit an experiencedOccupational Health Advisor (Band 6)to join their established Occupational Health team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an OH professional who enjoys autonomous practice, clinical leadership, and making a real impact on workforce wellbeing.
The Role
As an Occupational Health Advisor, you’ll provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical advice across a Trust-wide service. You’ll manage your own caseload, support and mentor OH Nurses and Technicians, and deputise for the Senior Occupational Health Advisor when required.
This is a varied and hands-on role, combining clinical delivery with leadership, service development and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver the full remit of Occupational Health services independently, including:
Fitness for work and sickness absence management
Pre-employment health assessments and immunity screening
Produce clear, high-quality management reports and recommendations
Provide clinical supervision, mentoring and day-to-day support to OH Nurses and Technicians
Deputise for the Senior Occupational Health Advisor (Band 7) as required
Support service development, clinical audit and SEQOHS accreditation
Act as a subject matter expert in a specialist OH area (e.g. immunisations or health surveillance)
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the Trust
Maintain professional standards in line with NMC Code of Conduct
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Registered Nurse (RN Adult/RGN) with
current NMC registration
Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Occupational Health (SCPHN OH)
qualification (Part 3 NMC)
Degree or postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health
Recent NHS Occupational Health experience
Experience managing a clinical OH caseload autonomously
Strong experience in sickness absence management, fitness to work and vaccinations
Confident producing professional management reports
Ability to mentor and supervise junior OH staff
Strong IT skills and experience using OH databases (e.g. Cority, OPAS G2)
Desirable:
Teaching, assessing or mentoring qualification
Audiometry and Spirometry certification
Experience in clinical audit, governance or health promotion
Additional Requirements
Enhanced DBS clearance
Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites
Willingness to work flexibly to meet service needs

Working Environment
Predominantly desk-based with Trust-wide site travel
Mix of face-to-face and remote consultations
