OH Medical is currently seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to undertake a  3 Days a Week, Part-Time Permanent role in Gillingham. This exciting opportunity will see you working in an in-house public sector department delivering a first-class Occupational Health Service.

The Role:
This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join an established Occupational Health team to deliver a professional Occupational Health service for employees. As a Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor, you will play a crucial role in:

  • Provide advice and guidance regarding Occupational Health.

  • Lead in the development of clinical standards and ensuring they are integrated, and overseen in alignment with the service requirements, in collaboration with the Senior Occupational Health team.

  • Supervise established quality improvement metrics to ensure compliance with local and external practice standards, such as NHS Plus and cold chain monitoring.

  • Assist the OH Clinical Service Lead/Service Coordinator in effectively prioritizing and managing workload.

  • Engage in audit and research initiatives essential for the advancement of the service.

  • Plan and execute relevant vaccination programs

  • Initiate investigations by obtaining blood samples for immunity to bloodborne viruses (e.g., hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV) after providing appropriate counselling on result implications.

  • Conduct investigations by obtaining blood for immunity to other infectious diseases (e.g., Rubella, Varicella Zoster, measles) as per Department of Health guidelines.

  • Carry out health surveillance programs for staff in alignment with legislation

  • Organise daily work plans to accommodate clinical demand, maximizing appointment availability.

  • Guarantee that Occupational Health services align with clinical governance, Health & Safety Executive, CQC, and NICE guidance.

  • Ensure service delivery meets department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Stay informed about current Occupational Health developments, attending relevant courses, conferences, and training opportunities.

  • Establish an effective learning environment for all staff.

  • Participate in developing and delivering appropriate training materials/programs to foster professional development.

  • Contribute to clinical supervision and support processes, facilitating reflective practice development.

  • Report, investigate, and take action on complaints and Adverse Incidents in accordance with directorate and policies. Collate themes and identify learning points for the department and service users.

  • Undertake workplace assessments, and promote health and safety in the work environment.

  • Identify personal development needs, maintaining the knowledge and skills necessary for effective role performance.

  • Participate in an annual appraisal with relevant reviews and follow the personal development plan as agreed with the line manager.

Required Skills:
To thrive in this Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor role, you'll need:

  • NMC Registration

  • Post-registration Occupational Health qualification or NMC specialist registration.

  • A minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience.

  • A minimum of 2 years of Occupational Health experience, preferably in a similar environment or within the NHS.

  • Proficient IT skills and the ability to utilise various computer packages.

  • Demonstrated sound clinical skills with the ability to make informed judgments based on risk assessment.

  • Expertise in immunisation and vaccination procedures.

  • Proficiency in venepuncture.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
