OH Medical are recruiting for a Senior Occupational Health Advisor in permanent Full Time position for an established In House Occupational Health department in Gloucester
The Remit:
As the Senior Occupational Health Advisor, you will be managing a multidisciplinary team to deliver a first-class Occupational Health Service that protects the health and wellbeing of employees whilst promoting the prevention of work-related illness and injury and encouraging good health and wellbeing practices . Your duties will include:
Provide advice, guidance and support on managing sickness absence and rehabilitation
Undertake and oversee referrals, ensuring appropriate and efficient use of resources, and monitoring cases until completion.
Responsible for delivery of fitness for role assessments and provide advice on an individual’s fitness for work and any work place adjustments required.
Lead clinical advice on the requirements for health surveillance, supervising the provision of assessments and advise managers of any additional control measures required.
Lead responsibility for workplace assessments of individuals with specific health issues affecting work, advise on suitable adjustments and refer to specialist agencies as required
Lead the delivery of employee wellbeing and health promotion initiatives
Lead a clinical multidisciplinary team, facilitating input from other key stakeholders to deliver a comprehensive wellbeing service.
Oversee the provision of physiotherapy services
Provide supervision, performance management and mentoring as required for the clinical practice of the multidisciplinary team.
Responsible for the maintenance of medical equipment and annual calibration of equipment is carried out and accurate records kept as well as distribution of equipment amongst the department
Work with the administrative team to ensure that all necessary health records are maintained, in accordance with legislative and clinical practice requirements and best practice.
Along with the administrative lead maintain and develop occupational health systems, including provision of statistical analysis and reporting.
Maintain and develop occupational health policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements and clinical best practice, including standards and practice notes.
Achieve and maintain SEQOHS accreditations in liaison with the wider OH Team.
Be responsible for the delivery of an effective annual staff flu vaccination programme.
Log comments received and investigate any complaints arising from the core OH nursing / clinical services and escalate as appropriate.
Skills Required
NMC Registered Nurse.
Qualified to degree / diploma level in Occupational Health
Experience managing a Multidisciplinary OH Team
Experience of case management, health surveillance, fitness for role assessments and health promotion.
Excellent knowledge of occupational health and employment legislation
Experience of Clinical Supervision and Governance
Dealing with and resolving complex health management issues
Basic counselling skills and problem-solving techniques
COSHH, Manual Handling and VDU training and assessment
Good IT Literacy - including use of databases and OH software packages, for data analysis and reporting.
Strong written and Verbal Communication Skills
Self motivated with good time management and organisational skills
Able to work autonomously and as part of a wider team
Salary & Benefits
Up to £51,000 PA Depending on experience (including Market Supplement)
