OH Medical are recruiting for a Senior Occupational Health Advisor to join the team of a Leading Occupational Health provider. You will be based from home but provide occasional onsite days covering client sites in the Glasgow area in a full time permanent role.
The Remit
As the Senior Occupational Health Advisor, you will focus on service delivery and client engagement. Providing day to day leadership of the team to deliver a first class service, audit activity, mentoring and training new staff as well as ad hoc project activity.
Mainly working from home with occasional travel in and around Glasgow/Central to deliver vaccination programmes, carry out DSE assessments and any required health surveillance or pre-placement medicals.
As the Senior Occupational Health Advisor your duties will include:
Client engagement and service delivery in line with contract expectations
Provide specialist OH advice and support to line managers and HR managers
Preparation of OH policies, standards and procedures in liaison with clinical governance
Liaise with client personnel and be present at client meetings and events
Measuring performance of occupational health service for direct reports, and provide mentoring, support and coaching to the OH Team
Produce progress reports and interpretation of client management information
Peer audits
Day to day leadership and direction of contract teams to deliver the client service effectively
Review pre-placement health assessment questionnaires and advise on fitness for employment, along with any recommended adjustments. Where necessary obtain medical reports and arrange referrals to medical specialist
Utilise local medical resources to support the service where relevant i.e. OHP, physiotherapist, etc ensuring that a high standard of service is provided
Provide managers with OH advice on short and long term sickness absence cases, outlining in detail rehabilitation and redeployment options where appropriate
Proactive case management of frequent, short term and long-term absences
In liaison with the Quality and Clinical Standards team ensure pathways and clinical protocols for managing frequently occurring conditions e.g. stress, muscular-skeletal symptoms are deployed consistently
Perform health surveillance and fitness for work health screening
Deliver annual health promotion campaigns
Provide advice on health-related Health & Safety legislation including First Aid at Work and Display Screen Equipment
Audit activity as agreed with Clinical Performance Manager
Carry out clinical audits to the required standard as part of a team plan, within quality and clinical standards governance framework
Provide constructive feedback to individuals and their managers as part of the audit role
Ad hoc project activity as agreed with Clinical Performance Manager
Within professional competency, carry out project work for clients including research and policy recommendations
Deliver client facing or internal training
Facilitate peer supervision and sharing of best practice
Any other reasonable task commensurate with skills, experience and seniority as request by Clinical Performance Manager from time to time
Skill Requirements
NMC Registered Nurse
Previous Senior Occupational Health Advisor experience preferred (or an OHA who is ready to step up)
Knowledge of OH Policies and procedures
Experience of Auditing
Good communication skills written and verbal
Ability to manage own workload, self-motivate and identify priorities
Good IT literacy IT literate
A full Clean Driving Licence
